Yippee! I finished assembling the chariot prototype!

Chariot Pictures!

One thing I'm really excited about is the justification for my packrat tendencies that this project represents. The handlebars and the axle were the only things I had to buy; the wheels came from my old bike (wrecked a few years ago and sitting in the yard ever since) and the wood from the scrap pile of stuff left over from other projects. It's sort of a hodgepodge as a result, but I'm happy with it. The constraint of trying to use the materials at hand and not over-design things is one I really tried to stick to. While it might not survive a race, it can certainly support a person's weight and look cool in still pictures, which is all it needs to do.

I haven't figured out how to decorate it yet. I'll probably paint it first and add stuff from there. The wheels need to be de-modernized as well. I figure I can put some sort of false front on top of the real wheel. Maybe wooden spokes?

About decorating with wooden spokes and demodernizing -- I think you could go either way, because part of the aesthetic is medieval, but part is steampunk/post-nuke/metal detritus. So you could choose to make it more Mad Max, or less.
