Vintage Photoshoot
Jul. 4th, 2008 04:20 pmA few weeks ago I finally got a chance to photograph a friend of mine in some of her vintage finery. I'm really excited that so many of them turned out well. I'm still getting used to my new camera, but this session gave me a lot of well-needed practice. :)
There are a few small images behind the cut, with more to be found by clicking through to the scrapbook gallery.

Also, I made a new icon. This bee was hanging out on the balcony of my hotel room at during Escapade and obligingly stayed still long enough for me to snap a few photos.

Date: 2008-08-07 01:17 am (UTC)2) Nah. By that point in the shoot we were just pulling random stuff out of the costume closet and trying it on. We were inspired by a few 50's cowgirl pin-ups but cowgirls are pretty timeless.
3) It's always easiest to invent things starting from a real foundation (and I'm so happy you noticed! It makes my little geek heart glad!)
The book she's holding actually reads: McGraw-Hill Series in Mechanical Engineering| Vanderplaats| Numerical Optimization Techniques for Engineering Design: With Applications. This was a 5th year class where Professor S said we could use whatever programming language we wanted, but he'd only give us partial credit if we used Fortran. After the first assignment we all switched to Fortran. :)
The new text was filled in using the HP Lexicon:
* Numerology and Grammatica - mentioned as the name of Hermione's Arithmancy textbook in the books
* Bridget Wenlock: mentioned in a spin-off video game as "Famous Arithmancer. First to establish the magical properties of the number seven."
