My how time flies! We've filmed one weekend at Camelot and another at the High Desert. I'll post dailies from those eventually, but first I'm going to run off for a long Thanksgiving weekend and get in some quality time off.

In the meantime, I've stitched together some panoramas of the Camelot set being built. Get ready for a horizontal scroll bar workout! :)

We got back into town from an unrelated road trip around noon on Friday. We loaded up the van at home, took a detour to Home Depot for a big pile of lumber and headed out. Here's a picture of the empty deck we started with at 3:40pm.

About two hours later, we had three walls framed.

We assembled the 4th wall soon after and put up one ceiling beam. The beam took more lumber than we expected to make it sturdy enough, so we were soon out of wood. The sun was setting, so it was a natural time to take a break and regroup.

We went back down the hill and picked up more helpers (but sadly were too slow to get more lumber before the store closed). We unloaded more stuff from the van and set up the trestles for the banquet tables. We also started stapling in the stained glass windows and fabric. Around 2am we made our sleepy way back home to finish painting windows & cutting out costumes. No one got much sleep that night.

The next morning started at 6am with another Home Depot run. [ profile] mister_b33 was left alone at the site to finish the ceiling beams while I went back down to gather up the cast & crew. I don't have a good picture of this stage, but here's a photo from Monday that shows the set with fabric added in between the windows to complete the walls.

Around 11:30 the cast & crew had all arrived and the ceiling was raised with everyone's help. The 20' x 40' sheet of 6 mil plastic was a hassle to deal with, but it did a great job evening out the direct sunlight on the set (and would have helped with rain, but we got lucky and didn't get any that weekend).

Loteria window closeups!
I'm just so excited about the way the windows turned out I had to post individual photos of the 5 we finished. Thank you to all the folk who spent countless hours painting these things over the previous week!

The mermaid & devil windows have been censored to preserve the quasi work-safeness of these update posts; click through the censored images to see the uncensored versions

Just before 2pm, the set was finally assembled and everyone was dressed. Time to begin!

more photos to come from the shoot itself later on
